Job Description:
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs laboratory tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Additionally, a MLT must be able to perform and evaluate quality control, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, collect blood specimens and operate the Laboratory Information System. This position requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, sound judgment, and initiative. Reports to the shift or section supervisor.
Requires graduation from an accredited MLT program and passing a national exam given by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
